In Honor of the late BKS Iyengar for his birth week.

Adho mukha svanasana 🧡 In honor of the late BKSIyengar in his birth week.

Yoga saved my life. I don’t talk about it a lot because the over saturation of pop-yoga has devalued the ancient subject and quite honestly has turned me off from teaching.

Overall, I’m grateful that yoga has gained so much popularity over the past few years. It’s an incredible way of understanding our own bodies work and how we can gain more mind access through body awareness…and how those two working together can liberate ourselves spiritually (if that’s what’s chosen.)

I was so lucky (if that’s what it’s called) to have found Iyengar Yoga from the beginning.

BKS Iyengar was living when I began studying at 19. The teachers I got to study with were studying with him regularly. The education I received was barely filtered and an evolutionary phase.

The certification process is a rigorous process consisting of 1,000s of hours of comprehensive study. This is with intention too keep the teachings pure and clear.

I have yet to find the courage to pursue this program, but have been certified in another style due to accessibility.

I have been teaching on and off for the past 15 years, my style of teaching is all focused on alignment and activation.

Iyengar yoga is a branch of Hatha Yoga that puts a heightened focus on alignment for the sake of physical benefits of the postures.

Every body is different, every day is different and the reason you roll out your mat today is different from the reason I roll mine out today.

Mr. Iyengar is responsible for the integration of yoga props so that every human regardless of their body type, health status or mental capacity can reap the same physical benefits of the postures.

Please drop a line to me at lindsey@sexplantsrockandroll.com if you’re interested in taking a seven week alignment journey.
